…Yonkers – without collaboration with Westchester – will soon launch its program to give up to $14.5 million in federal rent aid.

…Yonkers, as well as Rochester and Monroe County, decided they couldn’t wait for New York state to open its application portal. Besides, they believed that they could better serve their local tenants and landlords by forging partnerships with local nonprofits already on the ground with local people in need.

Cluster Community Services, where Jon Shenk, the non-profit’s special projects coordinator, is working on final tweaks on the online application. Other nonprofits helping Yonkers with applications are Westchester Residential Opportunities, Westhab, The Bridge Fund of Westchester and Catholic Charities.
