CLUSTER COMMUNITY SERVICES HOLDS HOUSEWARMING
TO CELBRATE MOVE FOR YONKERS MENTAL HEALTH RESIDENTS

Yonkers, NY. June 30, 2023 – Last night, CLUSTER Community Services celebrated a milestone in their Mental Health Residential Services. The non-profit organization runs several supportive care facilities in Yonkers and aids residents with mental illness and substance abuse who are on a path to recovery and independent living. For some years now, one of those facilities has needed a change to give residents a space more conducive to recovery. To best serve these clients, CLUSTER announced that they are scheduled this year to move 15 to7 residents into a new home better suited to their needs.

“This move, along with the direct services CLUSTER provides, gives our clients a fresh start and a beautiful new space that will make their path forward easier. We are excited about the possibilities as we help our neighbors make their way back to productive, independent lives,” said Mental Health Program Director, Claudine Williams.

The evening program was hosted by Executive Director, Freda Macon, who took the helm at CLUSTER earlier this year. “CLUSTER will always be there when we see people in need, across the four pillars of our service to the community: Strong Families, Secure Housing, Resolved Differences and Independent Living.”

The festivities were hosted at the Raymour & Flanigan Showroom on Central Avenue in Yonkers. Raymour & Flanigan not only hosted, but also made a generous financial donation. Housewarming gifts were collected during the evening from the guests, including flowers, kitchen supplies, blankets and towels. These will be used in the new residence to add a welcoming touch to the new space.

Also honored at the event were two mental health partners that CLUSTER works with in their programs. Dr Francis Hayden is a psychiatrist committed to family-centered, holistic care who practices in the NY metro area. Ms. Tarika Mingo is a metal health case worker who gives direct care to many of the CLUSTER clients. The two were given tokens of appreciation by Ms. Macon for their dedication and willingness to respond to critical mental health needs in the community. Over 20% of the homeless community in Yonkers faces serious mental illness and are in need of psychiatric support and housing.
